After a challenging 2022 season where Colorado managed just one victory, Deion Sanders took on the challenge of transforming the team culture and building a winning program in Boulder, a place with a rich football history.

The Buffaloes showed promise with a 3–0 start to the 2023 season, but unfortunately, they struggled afterward, finishing the year with a 4–8 record, going 1–8 in the remaining games.

Travis Hunter, one of Sanders"s key transfers from Jackson State to Colorado, made a significant impact when healthy, proving himself as one of the nation"s top players. Despite the setbacks, Hunter has high hopes for the Buffaloes in the coming year. In a conversation with Bleacher Report, he expressed, "You know, it was a tough season for us. A group of guys coming together, many of us unfamiliar with each other. But next year, mark my words, we"re winning more than four games. We"re coming back stronger, for sure.

"Expectations for next year are simple – go out and ball. Personally, I"m aiming to be the highest draft pick I can be. I want to win something with my team, reach the national championship, secure a bowl game. Basically, we"re gunning for everything we missed out on this year. It"s going to be a better year for me, a better year for the team. To our fans, stick with us. We"ve got you, and we won"t disappoint next year."
