The Pittsburgh Steelers earned a massive win over the Bengals in week 12 earning the most yards in a game in five years.
But despite all the offensive charm they only managed to convert the pressure into a measly 16 points. Luckily their defense held out and the win 16-10.
Quarterback Kenny Pickett believes the yards are great, but points win games and knows they will have to be more clinical if they are to reach the playoffs and a post season run.
“The chunk plays were there,” Pickett told Joe Rutter of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.
“We had some really good drives working on some long fields. We had some penalties and bad plays take us out of that rhythm,” he added.
Pittsburgh will take on the dismal Arizona Cardinals in week 13, and the team that has the 31st worse defense in the league should offer Pickett and team plenty of point scoring ability.
“We get rid of that, the points should come. . .. It’s game planning, the coverage, having the right call at the right time, getting them into those coverages and the shots we want to take versus the looks we’re seeing.
The QB managed 24 from 33 and 278 yards.
Running back Najee Harris did the bulk of the hard graft running in 99 yards and one touchdown through 15 carries.
“Talking about the Bengals win Pickett continued, “We had them, which is great. It all works together. The protection was great, guys were getting open, I was making the throws. I want to continue having that great prep. It all happens during the week.”
The 7-4 Steelers will look to add bite to their defensive strength starting this week.
