“a two-hand shove in the back, not playing the ball,” – commentator bemoans officiating as Chiefs lose to Packers

There were a few bizarre calls, or non-calls made by the officials in the Chiefs loss to the Packers and veteran commentator Terry McAulay did not mince his words.

Short of calling the officials inept he told fellow analyst Cris Collinsworth his two cents take.

“Cris, this is absolutely not a foul.

“The competition committee two years in a row has talked about points of emphasis and points of clarification. (Mahomes) is trying to gain yardage. He’s gotta get himself out of bounds. He didn’t. He’s in bounds. This is NOT a personal foul. Should not have been called.”

The Kansas City team went down 27-19 in a game fraught with errors by the officials, none more so than the final pass of the game, when Patrick Mahomes threw what was a speculative Hail Mary, but was actually a proper scoring opportunity.

“It looked in real-time, Cris, a two-hand shove in the back, not playing the ball,” McAulay said. “I think if this is NOT a Hail Mary, it’s absolutely pass interference. I get it; you let a lot more go. But, it sure looks like there’s a two-hand shove right there. You see (Travis) Kelce moving forward.”

Earlier in the game the officials missed another Mahomes pass via interference when the QB could not find Marquez Valdes-Scantling, following a clear shove by Carrington Valentine.

The 8-4 Chiefs will have to regroup quickly as they take on the Bills in week 14.
