Despite being on injured reserve with a knee injury, New Orleans Saints wide receiver Michael Thomas has found a way to make an impact on the team. Unfortunately, for the Saints and their fanbase, it wasn’t necessarily a positive impact. Thomas took to social media to air out his frustrations with how his team is playing and head coach Dennis Allen has been made aware.
Thomas made a cryptic post on X (also known as Twitter) that seemingly bashes Saints quarterback Derek Carr. “When your eyes don’t work you get people hurt it’s no mystery. And it’s something that needs to be studied,” Thomas shared in his post. He also liked a post that implies Carr failed to connect with an open receiver.
Yesterday, Allen was asked about the posts and whether or not there will be consequences for Thomas’ actions. “We’ll keep that in-house,” Allen said, per NOLA.com’s Patrick Magee. “But I guess I was made aware of that last night,” Allen added.
Sitting at 5-7, the Saints have lost three straight games and let the NFC South divisional lead slip away in recent weeks. Thomas’ social media rant is the latest example of frustrations beginning to mount in New Orleans with their playoff hopes slowly vanishing.
However, that does not Excuse Thomas’ actions nor make it acceptable to publicly criticize his teammate(s). Thomas has missed each of the Saints’ past two games and has to miss at least two more before being eligible to return from injured reserve.
