In a season where the quarterback position has been plagued by injuries across the entire NFL, the Miami Dolphins quarterback room has had a clean bill of health through 13 weeks. During a press conference on Tuesday, Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel was asked about the state of the quarterback position this season and acknowledged his signal-callers have stayed healthy.
Dolphins starting quarterback Tua Tagovailoa came into this season with major injury concerns after suffering multiple concussions last season that forced him to four games last season. However, he’s yet to miss a game for the Dolphins this season.
While the rest of the league has been ravaged by injuries to their quarterbacks, McDaniel has been so caught up in his work that he’s barely noticed since it hasn’t been a concern in the Dolphins locker room.
“And you’re so invested in your own situation. I’d be like, to me, it feels like the healthiest year for quarterbacks ever,” McDaniel said.
McDaniel went on to acknowledge that “almost half the league” is dealing with injuries to the quarterback position with some teams having to use as many as three different quarterbacks. “But shoot, for the Miami Dolphins, this is the year of quarterback health,” McDaniel added.
The only time Tagovailoa has been taken out of a game this season is when the Dolphins have blown out their opponents. Sitting at 9-3 and atop the AFC East, Tagovailoa’s health has played a large role in the Dolphins’ success this season.
