After a remarkable career, Greg Schulte, the longtime voice of the Arizona Diamondbacks on the radio, bid farewell following the team’s exciting run to the 2023 World Series. Stepping into his shoes is Chris Garagiola, who has been filling in for Schulte for the past two seasons and is eager to make his mark as the new radio voice for the D-backs.

Expressing his joy and gratitude, Garagiola shared, “This was a major life goal. I have a few big-ticket things I want to achieve in my life, and being the voice of a Major League Baseball team is one of them.” Garagiola’s connection with the Diamondbacks goes beyond his recent role; his father, Joe Garagiola Jr., served as the team’s inaugural general manager, and his grandfather, the renowned Joe Garagiola Sr., was the team’s TV analyst for 15 seasons.

Reflecting on his deep-rooted ties with the franchise, Garagiola expressed, “That was my team. That was my childhood team, and some of the best sporting memories I ever had.”

Having contributed to play-by-play calls and served as a pre- and post-game host on Arizona Sports 98.7 FM and the Diamondbacks Radio Network, Garagiola is well-prepared for his new role. Derrick Hall, the President of the Diamondbacks, welcomed the 31-year-old with enthusiasm, stating, “As Chris takes to the airwaves for the 2024 season, we are thrilled to have a familiar voice on D-backs radio.”

Acknowledging Garagiola’s capability to continue the legacy of exceptional storytelling initiated by Schulte 26 years ago, the Diamondbacks look forward to an exciting new chapter in their radio broadcasting journey.
