In the most bizarre take, Derek Carr says Marcus Mariota is a better option for Philadelphia Eagles than Jalen Hurts at QB

Many fans believe that some sports analysts will say the most outrageous things, believe it or not, in the hopes that one day they will go viral.

This might help explain David Carr"s thoughts on Tuesday"s NFL Total Access on NFL Network.

Or maybe the former NFL quarterback really believes the Philadelphia Eagles should trade MVP-contending quarterback Jalen Hurts and starter Marcus Mariota.

Carr actually said as much and even redoubled his efforts to defend the idea when co-host Michael Robinson became incredulous.

"It’s clear that Jalen is not comfortable breaking the defense in a surrender scenario,"

Carr said.

"Some would say he’s not even good at it. I think when you look at this team, if you"re Philly, you need to have a serious conversation: Would it be better for us to play Marcus Mariota now and let Jalen get back to full health? Robinson supported this point."

"We had just formed a committee to evaluate his MVP chances,"

Robinson said.

“If you"re (Eagles coach) Nick Sirianni, this is the type of decision and conversation you need to have if you have a forward-thinking mindset,"

Carr continued; I think you could have this conversation with Jalen.

"I would say [Mariota] is probably the better quarterback for the Philadelphia Eagles. It would be more productive now."

Robinson turned to the camera and said dramatically,

“Hey, I didn"t say that Philly!"

I didn"t say that Philly! Carr clearly believes what he said.

He noted that Hurts is limping due to a bone bruise in his knee and that the Eagles" offense hasn"t been as effective lately.

Hurts remains an MVP candidate this season after leading the Eagles to the Super Bowl earlier this year.

Mariota is a veteran QB playing for his fourth team in five seasons.

Carr"s argument makes no sense to football fans, but it caused a stir on X/Twitter.
