“Jalen isn’t comfortable reading through a defense in a drop-back pass scenario,” – NFL analyst David Carr feels Jalen Hurts must be benched

NFL Network analyst David Carr believes the Eagles should bench Jalen Hurts for Marcus Mariota when they travel to Dallas.

The Philadelphia team are fresh off a loss to the 49ers and take on a rampant Cowboys team with Superbowl winning credentials.

Mariota is a former Titans player and was drafted second overall in the 2015 draft by Tennessee.

He has also played for the Raiders and Falcons before joining the Eagles this year.

Carr, the brother of Saints quarterback Derek Carr believes Hurts is carrying an injury and should not be rushed back before the playoffs.

“Clearly, Jalen isn’t comfortable reading through a defense in a drop-back pass scenario,” Carr said.

“Some would say he’s not even good at it. And I think that when you look at this team, you have to have a serious conversation if you’re Philly. And you have to really say, ‘Is it better for us to play Marcus Mariota right now and let Jalen get fully healthy?’ Because I would argue that it does not matter if they’re the number one seed. Because if the 49ers come into Philly again, they do not care.”

Hurts does seem to be carrying a knee injury over the past four games, even though there is nothing official from the team.

“If you’re Nick Sirianni, this is the type of decision and conversation you have to have, if you have a big-picture mentality,” Carr said.

“And I think you can have that conversation, honestly, with Jalen and you can sit him down. That’s all Jalen talks about is the end result. And getting to the Super Bowl and winning that thing.”

Whether the quarterback is really hurt or is suffering a dip in form is debatable but there is a growing concern for the potential league MVP.
