We have to just continue to pound at it until one of those explosives pop” – Eagles OC Brian Johnson ahead of Cowboys clash, following loss to 49ers

The Eagles may have come thundering down to earth after their abject 42-19 loss to the 49ers but offensive coordinator Brian Johnson is not overly concerned.

The OC of the 10-2 Eagles wants his team to “continue to hammer attempts and try to get the guys in a good rhythm and a good flow.”

San Francisco have all the momentum to finish as the league top dogs with the Eagles facing a daunting match up against the free rubbing Cowboys.

“I think that’s feel and feeling how the game is going and what is needed in that certain point because, to your point, you could have seven yards on four carries and then break one for 30, and now you’ve got 37 yards on five carries or whatever it is,” Johnson said after the loss.

“Those numbers, that average looks a little bit different. Now you’re averaging seven yards a carry or whatever it is. We have to just continue to pound at it until one of those explosives pop. I think for us that’s something that we have to be really committed to.”

Philadelphia posted only 46 running yards and 26 of those went to quarterbacks Jalen Hurts and Marcus Mariota.

The Eagles went into the break after a competitive first half but conceded 15 points before they gained possession of the football in the third quarter.

They are fifth in the league in running yards but found an obstinate 49ers defense.

They will need to shake off the loss and look to running the ball more.
