Between multiple injuries and inconsistent play, the Cleveland Browns have struggled to get steady production from the quarterback position this season. As a result, the team resorted to signing NFL veteran Joe Flacco, who filled in admirably for rookie quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson to the point that people think Flacco deserves to continue starting.

Flacco completed 23 of his 44 pass attempts for 254 yards, two touchdowns, and an interception in his Browns debut, but the Browns lost 36-19. Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski has yet to name a starting quarterback for Week 14, but, Al Saunders, a former coach of Flacco’s, called into 92.3 The Fan’s The Ken Carman Show with Anthony Lima to express his thoughts on why Flacco should get another shot to start.

Saunders was so eager to call into the show and make his opinion known that he pulled over at a rest stop. "I had to pull over and stop at a rest stop to call you guys," said Saunders.

Saunders mentioned Flacco’s experience as an established NFL veteran as a reason to stick with him moving forward while the Browns look to finish the season strong and earn a playoff bid.

"At 7-5 and you’re going into the stretch run of the season, [Dorian Thompson-Robinson] is a great young prospect and you can’t teach experience," said Saunders. "And Joe Flacco, his personality, his demeanor, his ability to run an offense in that short period of time was incredible," Saunders added.

While we wait to see who Stefanski will announce as the team’s starting quarterback, Saunders made a compelling case for it to be Flacco.
