Despite being employed by a rival company, ESPN analyst Booger McFarland is a fan of how Fox has approached their Big Noon Saturday series. Big Noon Saturday is the pregame show for Fox College Football, which has become one of the more popular American sports segments in the country.
It’s rare to hear an ESPN employee speak so glowingly of Fox or anything relating to Fox, but McFarland wasn’t shy to speak his mind on this week’s episode of SI Media with Jimmy Traina. What McFarland likes specifically about Big Noon Saturday is the way they display their show, putting their best available game in the noon time slot.
“One of the greatest things that’s happened in our industry, and my company’s not going to like this, is Fox putting their best game at noon,” McFarland said. “Because Fox has made a decision… they’re trying to own the 10-12…” he added.
McFarland went on to say that he thinks Fox’s approach to Big Noon Saturday has “been one of the great things a network has done in the last five years.”
Conversely, as a member of ESPN’s NFL broadcast on Monday Night Football, games are not played until later in the night. Is McFarland suggesting that the NFL would benefit from playing their primetime games at an earlier time?
