Giants right tackle Evan Neal believes he has the ability to step up to the big moments and become a dominant force in the NFL.
Neal famously berated the team fans to boo louder, way back in October, calling them people who “flip hot dogs and hamburgers somewhere” after a blowout loss to Seattle.
He apologized for his poor choice of words but no amount of saying sorry can account for his poor defensive numbers.
He ranks as one of the league’s worst defensive blockers and is set to sit out for the sixth time in seven weeks with an ankle injury ahead of the Packers week 14 game.
When asked if he could ever be a dominant player he said, “Of course I can.
“I’ve put a lot of dominant reps on tape, a lot of times they go unnoticed, a lot of times the reps that I struggle get highlighted, but if you really sit back and watch the tape, I do a lot of good things.”
Neal was the seventh overall pick in 2021, with the Giants impressed by his college numbers.
“I do a lot of dominant things on the football field that a lot of times go unnoticed, but that’s the nature of being an offensive lineman, you’re not noticed until you mess up pretty much, you know what I’m saying?
“So, it is what it is. I have to continue to get better, I know I have a lot of work to do, and I embrace it, with a smile on my face, so that’s where I’m at.”
The Alabama Crimson Tide player will have one eye on the College playoffs and the other on the Giants vs Packers.
Which Neal will turn up when fit, the Crimson Tide legend or the not-so-good Giants big man?
