“I’ve never once said that to anybody in this locker room, that I wouldn’t want to play,” – QB Zach Wilson after being named as Jets starter amid media brouhaha

Zach Wilson will bet another chance to prove his quarterback chops he returns to the starting lineup for the Jets.

The New York team will take on a playoff hunting Texans outfit, with rookie QB CJ Stroud dominating the headlines.

Wilson was forced to deny a report that stated he did not want to play again this season, categorically denying a story released a day earlier by Athletic.com.

“I’ve never once said that to anybody in this locker room, that I wouldn’t want to play,” Wilson said.

There is growing support that the Athletic.com team got it wrong by not seeking a response from Wilson before they published the report.

“Zach gives us the best chance to win,” said head coach Robert Saleh, who will make Trevor Siemian the number two quarterback.

Tim Boyle started the last two games at quarterback for the Jets but was not in great touch, prompting a return to Wilson.
