Miami Dolphins Secure Right Tackle Austin Jackson with $36M Contract Extension

The Miami Dolphins, the leaders of the AFC East, and their right tackle, Austin Jackson, have agreed to a $36 million contract extension.

The Dolphins secured Jackson’s retention with a strategic move just before the right tackle was set to enter free agency

According to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, “Sources: The #Dolphins and RT Austin Jackson have agreed to terms on a 3-year, $36M contract extension to keep Jackson in Miami. The max value is $39M, including $20.7M guaranteed. On the heels of a career year protecting Tua Tagovailoa’s blindside, Jackson gets paid.”

The left tackle was picked up by the Miami Dolphins in the 2020 NFL Draft. However, Jackson had previous seasons in which he was marred with injuries and subpar play and had his position changed several times.

The right tackle started showing impressive performance when he started training with Head Coach Mike McDaniel. Jackson has been with the squad since the start of this season and is in prominent shape. The Miami Dolphins will face the Tennessee Titans in their next match.
