While the baseball world eagerly awaits to hear two-time MVP Shohei Ohtani’s free-agent decision, his recent flight logs may have given us a glimpse of where he intends to play in the future.
A baseball YouTuber who goes by @BaseballDoesnt on X (also known as Twitter), revealed that a private jet was scheduled to depart from Santa Ana Airport in California to the Toronto Airport at 9 AM PST. Social media has gone into a frenzy thinking Ohtani will sign with the Toronto Blue Jays based on the flight information provided.
Ohtani is set to become the highest-paid player in MLB history, with his next contract reaching as high as $600 million. His two-way ability as an elite pitcher and dominant power hitter has made Ohtani the most coveted and valuable player in baseball.
Per MLB Network insider Jon Morosi, Ohtani’s decision is “imminent” and could happen “as early as today.
Until then, all fans can do is wait. Previous reports suggest the Blue Jays are one of four finalists in the Ohtani sweepstakes. USA Today’s Bob Nightengale reported that the Los Angeles Angels/Dodgers and San Francisco Giants are the “likely” finalists in addition to the Blue Jays.
Ohtani’s decision will single-handedly alter the entire MLB landscape. Where he ends up will impact how the rest of the offseason unfolds. It is only a matter of time before the news breaks.
