“We need to hold our politicians accountable” – Charles Barkley wants more gun reform after UNLV shooting

On Wednesday news broke out of a gunman shot down by police after he killed three and injured one at the campus of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.

The University reported a gunman opened fire at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas on Wednesday killing three faculty members and leaving one injured.

As per the updates, on Thursday, the university identified two of the victims as Patricia Navarro-Velez, 39, of Las Vegas and Cha Jan “Jerry” Chang, 64, of Henderson,Nev.

They were both professors in the business school ad he third person killed, also a faculty member, will be identified after relatives have been notified, the university said

On Thursday at a news conference, Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Sheriff Kevin McMahill identified the shooting suspect as 67-year-old Anthony Polito.

Sheriff McMahill shared with the reporters that Polito’s car and house have been searched but haven’t narrowed it down to the motive for the shooting.

McMahill said,

“I want to stress that we’re still learning a lot about this suspect and still trying to understand the motive. We know he applied numerous times for a job with several Nevada higher education institutions and was denied each time.”

The Associated Press reported that Polito seems to not be targeting students, according to two law enforcement officials.

UNLV President Keith Whitfield said in a statement,

“What students, employees, and campus visitors endured yesterday during the shooting and the tense aftermath is life-changing.”

NBA and Lakers star LeBron James extended his deepest condolences to the families and loved ones in the aftermath of the shooting at UNLV.

James said,

“We are the only ones that keep dealing with this same story, the same conversation, every single time it happens. It just continues to happen.”

The Inside crew also reacted to Wednesday’s shooting at UNLV.

“It can’t get to the point where we’re just accepting this. We need to hold our politicians accountable. Until humanity overtakes politics, sadly we are going to see more.”
