Earlier this week, NBC Sports Boston’s Tom Curran reported that New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft concluded that he will part ways with legendary head coach Bill Belichick after the season following the team’s Week 10 loss to the Indianapolis Colts. Belichick met with reporters on Wednesday morning and responded in true Belichick fashion.
Belichick is typically mild-mannered, quiet, and dry with his responses to the media, usually keeping his thoughts to himself as best as he can. The same was the case on Wednesday, with Belichick avoiding questions about his future and focusing on the Patriots Week 15 game against the Kansas City Chiefs.
"Getting ready for Kansas City [Chiefs]," Belichick repeated multiple times when questions about his future with the Patriots were mentioned.
With four games remaining in the 2023 regular season and the Patriots sitting at 3-10, they’re eliminated from playoff contention and in a position to land a top selection in the upcoming NFL Draft. Until then, all Belichick and the team can do is focus on what they can control over the next four weeks and it starts with the Chiefs.
All good things eventually come to an end and it’s looking like Belichick’s tenure in New England is no different. 383 wins, six Super Bowls, and three Coach of the Year Awards in 24 years as the team’s head coach, Belichick has cemented himself as the greatest coach in franchise history and arguably the greatest coach in NFL history.
If this is his last season with the Patriots, his contributions to the franchise will never be forgotten.
