Giants President of Operations trolls MLB Insider Jon Heyman for Spelling Mistakes

As a reporter/journalist, it is one’s goal to release relevant and accurate information as quickly as possible. Sometimes, it can be a race to report the inside scoop first, which can be a detriment to the report itself. As has been the case for New York Post baseball columnist and MLB Network insider, Jon Heyman, who has notoriously made spelling errors in past reports.

Farhan Zaidi, president of baseball operations for the San Francisco Giants, spoke with reporters on Tuesday to address their recent acquisition of centerfield Jung Hoo Lee and Zaidi was quick to reference Heyman’s past mistakes in a joking matter.

Zaidi was asked about Heyman breaking the news regarding the six-year, $113 million contract Ho Lee signed with the Giants and he had this to say: "Jon Heyman? I’ll say this, he’s got a better chance of being accurate if he actually spelled the guy’s name correctly," per The Athletic’s Andrew Baggerly.

Last offseason, Heyman reported that the Giants appeared to be on the verge of signing New York Yankees slugger "Arson [Aaron] Judge." More recently, Heyman broke the news that pitcher Rich Hill and first baseman Ji Man Choi decided to sign with the San Diego "Oasres [Padres]."

Zaidi saw the opportunity to poke fun at Heyman with a lighthearted reference and didn’t hesitate to capitalize. It serves as a reminder that reporters/insiders are human too and it is okay to not only make mistakes but to laugh at those mistakes.
