Yannick Ngakoue injury update: Bears DE suffers season-ending ankle injury, is set to undergo surgery

Yannick Ngakoue, the defensive end of the Chicago Bears, will no longer play in the NFL season 2023, as his active streak has come to an end. 

During the press conference on Wednesday, head coach Matt Eberflus revealed that the player had broken his ankle during the game against the Detroit Lions. 

The Detroit Lions were defeated by the Chicago Bears with a concluding score of 28-13. The Bears now stand in the season with a 5-8 score, whereas the Lions are at a 9-4. 

Ngakoue suffered a season-ending injury during the last throes of the game however, the exact moment could not be pointed out as per the Bears Wire, USA Today. The defensive end will be going for the surgery. 

As per Pro Football Talk, Ngakoue signed a one-year deal with the Bears in August. He posted 22 tackles and four sacks and was the starter in all thirteen games he played with the Browns. 

With Ngakoue out for the time being, other players such as Rasheem Green, DeMarcus Walker, and Dominique Robinson will get the chance to play actively.
