Who is Will Sheppard? All you need to know about top wideout who’s committed to Colorado

Will Sheppard is heading to Colorado to play for Deion Sanders and the Buffaloes.

The wide receiver, who spent the last three seasons at Vanderbilt, announced that he will be transferring to Colorado for his final season of eligibility.

Sheppard entered the transfer portal following a season where he recorded 684 receiving yards and eight touchdowns.

Will Sheppard will be a massive addition for head coach Dion Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes in 2024.

Sheppard, a 6-foot-3, 198-pound wideout who played his last four seasons of college ball at Vanderbilt, announced his commitment to the Buffs on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter.

On his career, Sheppard has notched 2,067 receiving yards and 21 touchdowns. Now, Sheppard is looking to help Sanders and the Buffaloes improve next season following a 4-8 finish to the year.

As a transfer, Sheppard is considered to be a 4-star prospect, the No. 35 overall player and the No. 7 wide receiver in the transfer portal by 247Sports Composite rankings.

His best season came in 2022 when he notched 776 receiving yards and nine touchdowns. He will join wide receiver Terrell Timmons Jr., who is transferring to Colorado from NC State.

Colorado also has a pair of wide receiver commits in the Class of 2024 joining the team next year in Zycarl Lewis and Drelon Miller.

The group will look for success with quarterback Shedeur Sanders as the Buffaloes enter Year 2 of the Prime era.

Last season, Colorado began the season looking poised for a big year, winning its first three games, including an upset over TCU.

Following the conclusion of the season, Colorado saw several key players enter the transfer portal, but now Sanders is drawing in some transfers to try and fill the void.

Colorado is looking for a big year in 2024, and picking up one of the best offensive pieces in the transfer portal should help.

William Miles Sheppard is an American football wide receiver who will play for the Colorado Buffaloes.

In Sheppard’s high school career, he hauled in 126 receptions for 2,252 yards, and 33 touchdowns. Sheppard would decide to commit to play college football at the University of Vanderbilt.

In week five of the 2021 season, Sheppard had a breakout game racking up eight receptions for 119 yards and two touchdowns, as he helped Vanderbilt beat UConn 30–28.

Sheppard took a step up in the 2021 season, finishing the year with 43 receptions for 577 yards and four touchdowns.

In week three of the 2022 season, Sheppard had an amazing performance, tallying ten receptions for 171 yards and two touchdowns, as he helped the Commodores beat Northern Illinois.

Sheppard finished his breakout 2022 season with 60 receptions for 776 yards and nine touchdowns. Sheppard would be named preseason second team all SEC, for the 2023 season.

Sheppard would be named to the Fred Biletnikoff Award watch list for the 2023 season, which is given to the nation’s best receiver, after leading Vanderbilt in touchdowns the prior season and being ranked second in receiving touchdowns in the SEC.

Sheppard would start the 2023 season off hot, as in week zero he hauled in six passes for 68 yards and two touchdowns, as he helped Vanderbilt beat Hawaii 35–28.

On December 3, 2023, Sheppard announced that he would be entering the transfer portal. On December 14, 2023, Sheppard announced that he would be transferring to Colorado.

Last season for Vandy, he caught 47 passes for 684 yards and eight touchdowns, averaging 14.6 yards per catch.

As a junior, he caught 60 passes for 776 yards and nine touchdowns. In all, he’ll be bringing 2,067 total yards and 21 touchdowns, plus four years of experience to Sanders’ team.

A grad transfer, Sheppard will be eligible to play immediately for Colorado.
