Toronto Blue current Jays pitcher Chris Bassitt recently said he would like to see the Los Angeles Angels trade superstar Mike Trout to the Philadelphia Phillies.
Bassitt shared his comments to longtime MLB Network host and current Jomboy Media podcaster Chris Rose, he said,
“I would love to see him in Philly. I know that’s kind of his hometown. I just think Trout in Philly would be apex. He and Harper, the fans’ standpoint of it—I wouldn’t want to face them… But Trout arguably is one of the top five best players in my opinion ever, position-wise. I got to see him on a team that’s playing deep into October. He deserves that, the baseball world deserves that. Everyone deserves to see him go deep into a playoff run.”
Trout’s contract is till the 2030 season at an average annual value of $35.6 million that includes a full no-trade clause. Being one of the best position players of all time, the lack of postseason success possibly could escalate to trade talk.
He is also a three-time American League MVP, with 11 straight All-Star berths. If the trade ever happens, Trout would join a potent Phillies’ offense that already includes Bryce Harper, Trea Turner, Kyle Schwarber, and J.T. Realmuto.
Undoubtedly, he is one of the best players in the history of baseball. At just 32 years old, he is already an 11-time All-Star, a nine-time Silver Slugger and a three-time MVP.
