Quarterback Desmond Ridder has taken the fall for the Falcons 9-6 loss to last placed Carolina in week 15.
The team confirmed that former Washington State alumni Taylor Heinicke will start against the Colts this weekend.
Ridder will drop to the bench after back-to-back losses against the Buccaneers and the Panthers.
Ridder was directly to blame for the match winning drive for Carolina has he spilled to ball to safety Xavier Woods inside Carolina’s 5-yard line.
Surprisingly the Atlanta team are still in the mix to win the NFC South, with a 6-7 record. They trail the respective 7-6 Buccaneers and Saints.
At the start of the season the Falcons made clear that Ridder would be the future but he may not even be in the roster in 2024.
Logan Woodside moves into the number 3 QB slot.
In week 17 the Falcons play the beatable Bears before a potential must win encounter against New Orleans.
