“As you know, I hate it” Super Bowl MVP Cooper Kupp Takes a Stand Against Artificial Turf, Advocates for Change in NFL Playing Surfaces

The Super Bowl champion and Super Bowl LVI, Cooper Kupp, has been expressing his disapproval towards playing on artificial grass for a long time. While he played his major games on the surface, he didn’t feel excited to be playing on it.

According to Pro Football Talk, Kupp shared this, “As you know, I hate it. I’m not a fan of turf in general and it’s obviously tough going back-to-back on a short week. But it is what it is. I know people are certainly aware of it.”

“If there’s going to be change that’s going to come, it’s not because people don’t know, you know? So it is what it’s. Like I said, it’s the same thing about playing Thursday night. Everyone’s got to do it. Everyone’s got to get it done on turf and just part of this game and you got to deal with it.”

Kupp is one of the most recent voices who has taken a standpoint against playing on turf. The Commissioner, however, has made an effort to question the two surfaces but without people who think about the issue in all its seriousness, the debate cannot take place.

A strike took place in 1987 but couldn’t work further because the players could not remain together for longer than few weeks. The issue has been given precedence in recent times as well.
