The NFL is sticking to a clear and wrongful violation for television replays in match officiating, with clear examples of the weekend action.
If each and every play was replayed in minutia it would be a case of over analysis paralysis, which could turn newer audiences into something more action full.
There are two clear examples of plays being allowed to unfold despite picking apart at the seams.
In the Cleveland vs Chicago Bears game, a touchdown catch by Browns TE David Njoku could have been cited as a case of no TD being called as a heel was clipping the line, but the on-field decision was allowed, and the touchdown scored.
Another game which benefited from the NFL’s policy happened in Jaguars versus the Ravens encounter which saw Jacksonville WR Calvin Ridley caught a pass at the end of the N-Zone which was ruled incomplete. The Jaguars challenged and the ruling was upheld.
NFL rules analyst Terry McAulay suggested that the call should be overturned: “Clearly inbounds. I believe he gains complete control. Knee down. Touchdown.”
