Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes"s wife, Brittany, addressed online bullies on Instagram on December 19. She called out the increase in rude comments and suggested that those engaging in negativity should go back to where they came from.
“Recently there has been A LOT more rude ass people on here. Waaaay more then [sic] normal. “I"m not sure where yall came from, but you should probably go back to where you came from… please," wrote Brittany.
Brittany"s post comes after a $50,000 fine was imposed on Patrick Mahomes for his reaction to an offside call against Chiefs receiver Kadarius Toney in the recent loss to the Bills.
Time and again, Brittany has been a target of online trolling for various reasons, including her outfit choices, her game-day moments with Patrick, her new friendship with Taylor Swift, who is dating Travis Kelce, and her support for Patrick in every game.
In August, Brittany posted a picture with Patrick before the Kansas City Chiefs preseason game against the Cardinals, and a provocateur commented, “He"s like ‘damn," I can"t go anywhere without you showing up."
Fast forward to October, Brittany faced another round of trolling when spotted at an NFL game with Taylor Swift.
A fan quipped, “I"m just here for the bad visuals of Brittany Mahomes whenever Taylor Swift is shown."
Moving to a November 9 Instagram post, featuring Brittany in a holiday-themed campaign for Skims, two online trolls expressed disapproval:
“Promoting Skims while being friends with Taylor doesn"t sit right with me."
Another added, “Do you know what the owner of this brand did to your friend [Taylor Swift]? Please stop."
In a November 21 Instagram post where Brittany flaunted her outfit, a follower criticized Brittany, stating, “Without a doubt the least attractive player"s wife in the league."
It appears that fans find random reasons to criticize Brittany, making her a frequent target of online negativity.
Patrick Mahomes and Brittany Matthews first met in high school in Texas, where he was a Sophomore and she was a Junior.
Their connection grew through their shared passion for sports, with Mahomes playing Football and Baseball, while Matthews excelled in Soccer and Cheerleading.
Despite attending different colleges, Mahomes at Texas Tech University and Matthews at the University of Texas at Tyler, the couple maintained their relationship and attended prom together in 2013.
They tied the knot on March 12, 2022, in Maui, Hawaii. The couple has two children, Sterling Skye, born in 2021, and Patrick “Bronze" Lavon III, born in 2022.
In addition to her role as a mother and wife, Brittany Matthews is actively involved in the sports world. She is a founding co-owner of the Kansas City Current, a National Women"s Soccer League (NWSL) team, alongside her husband. Their ownership of the team began in 2020.
Brittany, a retired women"s soccer forward, previously played for UMF Afturelding when the team competed in Iceland"s 2. deild the third-tier women"s football league in Iceland.
Next, the Chiefs will play on Christmas Day, against the Las Vegas Raiders at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium.
