Garrett Wilson seemingly unhappy with the Jets misusing him in chastening season where he’s only caught 3 TDs

Garrett Wilson, a wide receiver for the New York Jets, has expressed his dissatisfaction with the team"s utilization of him in a season where he has only caught 3 touchdowns.

Wilson has been one of the Jets" best skill position players, leading the team with 57 receptions for 651 yards and 2 touchdowns.

Wilson is aware of the need to improve his ball security and has vowed to work on it.

The frustration from the Jets offense was evident long before the cameras showed wide receiver Garrett Wilson wearing his emotions on his sleeve during New York’s 30-0 defeat at the Miami Dolphins on Sunday.

"I got to be out there 60 minutes, trying to figure out the way to make those 60 minutes as productive on the offensive side as possible,"

Wilson said. Just trying to figure out how to get something going.

"A lot of times it comes off like I’m saying something, but reality of it is, I just talk with a lot of emotion sometimes, especially when I’m playing the game I love and not getting the results that we want."

Wilson finished with 29 yards on three catches after he wasn’t targeted until the third quarter – "I’m aware," he said when a reporter mentioned that fact after the game.

"It seems like we’re being unintentional, to be honest,"

Wilson said.

The head coach said they’re

"always trying to find ways to give [Wilson] the football."

"Again, starts and ends up front to be able to get the quarterback a chance to go throw it, then obviously the quarterback with timing, and then again from a coaching standpoint to make sure we are putting these guys in position to get the ball in and out of their hands as quickly as possible,"

he said.

He knows everyone is trying to put their best foot forward.

For last year’s Offensive Rookie of the Year, the contrast between the Dolphins and Jets was on his mind and appeared to contribute to his frustration.

“I think they have a lot of pieces in their favor that make it easier to scheme,"

Wilson said of Miami. But that’s not how it’s going right now.

"I gotta figure it out. Be better, run better routes, be better in the meeting rooms, and figure out how I can be involved early and often."

In the end, the Jets got just 26 yards in the air from Zach Wilson before he was knocked out of the game with a concussion, and 110 from Trevor Siemian in relief.

“Yeah, it’s very disappointing,"

Wilson said.

“We got to get to the drawing board, figure it out."

“I got a lot more to give."

Another wasted Sunday for Garrett Wilson.

“I’ll look back in 10 years from now and be thankful for it, that’s how I see it,"

Wilson said after the Dolphins’ 30-0 win over the Jets.

For his sake, you hope it takes less time than 10 years. When he was reminded that he wasn’t targeted until the third quarter, he said: "I’m aware." Wilson caught his first pass midway through the third quarter.

"I guess I gotta fix it, I gotta figure out how I can get involved in the first quarter … starting practice fast, I don’t know, I gotta show something, I gotta do something, I don’t know,"

he said.

“I don’t know, I gotta figure it out."

Offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett had got to figure it out. Told that Allen Lazard said the Jets were out-schemed, Wilson said:

"If Allen said it, probably true. But that’s not how it’s going right now, I gotta figure it out — run better routes, be better in the meeting room to figure out how I can be involved early, and how we can win games."

"I’m sure he’s over there in the locker room kicking it,"

Wilson said.

"A lot of times it comes off like I’m saying something, but reality of it is I just talk with a lot of emotion sometimes especially when I’m playing a game I love,"

he said.

"Practice all week, practice your whole life, and you go out there and play like this, it’s disappointing,"

Wilson said.

Garrett Wilson was clearly impressed with the play of New York Jets quarterback Zach Wilson in their stunning 30-6 win against the Houston Texans on Sunday.

"I mean, he balled man, he balled,"

Wilson said postgame.

Jets coach Robert Saleh said that this was Wilson’s best game of his three-season NFL career. It was the third time Wilson surpassed 300 yards in the air, and first this season. His two TD passes equaled his career-best, and was the seventh time he had done so.

Not surprisingly, Garrett Wilson was Zach Wilson’s favorite target during his breakout performance. The stud wide receiver caught nine passes on 14 targets for a season-high 108 yards.

Wilson didn’t get in the end zone, though Randall Cobb explained that his own 15-yard TD catch in the third quarter was designed for the reigning NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year. Cobb replaced him and ended up scoring the first TD of the game.

However, it is important to note that the Jets have been struggling offensively this season, scoring only 9 offensive touchdowns in 10 games. It is possible that Wilson"s lack of production is a result of the team"s overall struggles.

It remains to be seen how the Jets will address Wilson"s concerns and whether they will be able to turn their season around. In the meantime, Wilson will continue to work on improving his game and helping the team in any way he can.
