“He wants to coach on this staff” – Colorado Boulder coach Deion Sanders hints that Warren Sapp may join coaching team

Colorado Boulder head coach Deion Sanders has admitted that fellow Hall of Famer Warren Sapp may join the Buffalo side next season.

Sapp spent 13 years as a player in the NFL, playing for the Buccaneers and the Raiders.

The defensive tackle was a first round pick (12th) in 1995 and is a Superbowl winner with the Bucs who ironically beat the Raiders in 2002.

“He wants to coach on this staff and he wants to be part of this staff and he is going to be a part of this staff,” Sanders said. “He has so much to give and I can’t wait to see him on a daily basis.

Sanders believes his expertise and experience will trickle down to the offense leading to more rounded coaching staff.

“Even the offensive linemen, they glean from him too because he’s so thought-provoking that he can tell them, ‘Don’t let the defensive linemen get you at that point or this point or this point.’ I mean, he’s that — he’s a wealth of knowledge and he’s hilarious, man,” Sanders said.

Sapp was the 1999 NFL Defensive Player of the Year.

He boasts 96.5 sacks, 573 tackles and 19 forced fumbles in his career.
