The Seahawks had found themselves in an unprecedented slump with a four-game losing streak.
This was far from where the team seemed to be heading in the early season. However, the tides began to turn favorably starting from Week 15.
The week witnessed the Seahawks turning the game around, registering a resounding comeback win over the Steelers.
With a crowd going wild over Drew Lock’s stellar performance, one man witnessed quietly from the sidelines – Geno Smith.
On Sunday, the Seahawks were following the Titans 17-13, following a touchdown run by Derrick Henry, which left only 3:21 on the clock in the fourth quarter.
It was time for Smith to step out from the shadow of the sideline and into the limelight. Smith did not disappoint and masterfully engineered a game-winning drive.
During this crucial phase, Smith went 6-of-9 for 52 yards before offering up a throne-shaking move by hitting Colby Parkinson with a five-yard touchdown pass, effectively scoring a game-winning point with just one minute left on the clock.
With this stirring victory, Smith has now engineered a total of four game-winning drives this season.
Pete Carroll, The Seattle Seahawks’ chief coach, was effusive in his praise of Smith.
He lauded Smith’s ability to inspire his teammates, attributing it as a significant reason behind his capacity to change the game’s direction.
“You’ve got to be around him to appreciate the competitive mentality that he has,” Carroll said, via the team’s website. “He’s in such a good place. He believes so strongly that it’s going to happen, and it’s going to get done and his guys are going to come through for him. And that belief it transfers, translates to other guys, they feel him. So they go through and do what they’re supposed to do, and it comes out well. He’s having an enormous impact on these guys just because his mentality is so strong and so consistent.”

Carroll envisions that this stirring comeback will propel the Seahawks into a favorable playoff position, particularly with the up-and-coming games against formidable opponents like the Steelers and Cardinals to wrap up the regular season.
