The year usually finds Bill Belichick and his team, the Patriots, securing their position in the AFC East and gearing up for the playoffs.

However, this year paints a different picture. Even though the Patriots were soon pushed off from playoff contention.

During the post-match conference following the Patriots’ victory over Denver Broncos, Bill Belichick projected a positive outlook about his team’s performance.

Despite the disappointing 4-11 season record, Belichick commended his team noting their resilience in this challenging season.

“That was a wild game. I’m really proud of our guys, our players, coaches,” Belichick said. “Got off to a rough start, but those guys really battled back, hung in there. . . . Really happy for the hard work that our players and coaches put in, and how resilient they were.”

The resilience that Belichick mentions is exemplified by the team’s kicker, Chad Ryland.

Despite missing two kicks during the game, Ryland hit a 56-yarder as the time ran out, sealing the 26-23 win for the Patriots.

“I think our whole team showed a lot of mental toughness. All week, all year, tonight,” Belichick said.

Belichick applauded Ryland for his persistence and his embodiment of the team’s continued fighting spirit.

For most, the Patriots’ 2020 season may seem like a tale of losses and missed opportunities.

Still, if viewed from Belichick’s perspective, it depicts a story of a team’s growth in resilience and perseverance amidst significant challenges.
