Tommy DeVito has become somewhat of a folk hero in New York City since taking over at quarterback for the Giants.
In a sit-down interview with Peter Schrager of Fox Sports, the 25-year-old rookie revealed that he recently found himself sitting next to the Yankees’ outfielder at a New York City restaurant.
“I turned around and I was like, ‘This guy knows who I am?’ I turned around and introduced myself and that was an awesome experience because I am a Yankees fan,”
DeVito said to Schrager.

After playing his collegiate ball at Syracuse and Illinois, DeVito was signed by the Giants as an undrafted free agent.
New York Yankees slugger Aaron Judge appears to be a big fan of New York Giants quarterback Tommy DeVito.
Speaking with Peter Schrager of Fox Sports, DeVito revealed that he recently went out to dinner in New York City and Judge was sitting at the table next to him.
DeVito didn’t want to go up to Judge, but when he was ready to pay the bill, his waiter said the Yankees star had paid for his meal.

"He knows who I am?"
So awesome.

DeVito has taken the New York City football scene by storm since taking over as the Giants starting quarterback in Week 10.
“Tommy Cutlets,” as he is also known, grew up in New Jersey and was signed by the Giants as an undrafted free agent this spring following a college career that saw him play for both Syracuse and Illinois.
After just four starts, quarterback Tommy DeVito has become an instant fan favorite among New York Giants fans.
DeVito completed all but four of his 21 passes on a Monday night while directing the Giants to a game-winning drive in the game’s final two minutes. His final completion, a 32-yard pickup to Wan’Dale Robinson, set up Randy Bullock’s game-winning field goal as time expired.
A sociology major at Syracuse, DeVito set several records during his time at Syracuse and his one year at Illinois. At Syracuse, DeVito set a school record by attempting 212 passes without an interception.
He’s top 10 in school history in completion percentage, passer rating, passing yards per game, touchdown passes, completions and passing yards. His 69.6 completion percentage last season was good for fourth in the nation, tops in the Big Ten and the best in school history.
DeVito completed a school-record 90.9% of his throws (20 of 22) against Nebraska. While he may be new to many fans, Giants fans have been familiar with DeVito for a while. He was the team’s leading passer during the preseason, playing in all three of Big Blue’s exhibition games.
DeVito then went 9 of 11 for 88 yards in the Giants’ 21-19 win over Carolina one week later. While it was a preseason game, DeVito’s most playing time in the preseason came in an electric atmosphere, as the Giants faced off against the Jets in what was Aaron Rodgers for start for Gang Green.
DeVito made his regular-season debut against the Jets in Week 9 after Tyrod Taylor went down with an injury.
Tommy DeVito is enjoying a magical ride going from undrafted rookie third stringer to starting quarterback for his hometown New York Giants — all while still living with his parents in nearby New Jersey.
Aaron James Judge (born April 26, 1992) is an American professional baseball outfielder for the New York Yankees of Major League Baseball (MLB).
A five-time MLB All-Star, Judge was unanimously selected as the American League (AL) Rookie of the Year in 2017 and finished second in voting for the AL Most Valuable Player Award that year.
In 2022, he set the AL record for most home runs in a season with 62, breaking the 61-year-old record held by Roger Maris, and winning the AL Most Valuable Player Award.
Judge stands 6 feet 7 inches (2.01 m) tall and weighs 282 pounds (128 kg), making him one of the largest and tallest players in MLB.
Many others in the New York City area and across the country now know who DeVito is. As Schrager pointed out, there were likely children in New Jersey excitedly unwrapping No. 15 Giants jerseys with DeVito’s name on the back under the Christmas tree Monday.
“I think it’s pretty surreal,”
DeVito said. The football jersey DeVito would wear most as a child. That of former Notre Dame line-backer, Carlo Calabrese — who, like DeVito, was a hometown hero in northern New Jersey.
