The Commanders will once again start without quarterback Sam Howell with Jacoby Brissett getting the nod for their gane against the 49ers.
Washington head coach Ron Rivera is unlikely to be with the team next season after a disappointing season, and will want to go out on a high.
If this means giving Howell a mental and physical break then Rivera has shown his cards, as Brissett is likely to start in week 18 against the Cowboys.
Howell took the benching well, saying, it is “obviously disappointing, (but) it is what it is.
“I think at the end of the day, I just gotta play better. I’m just gonna try to do whatever I can, continue to get better these last two weeks and try to learn as much as I can while watching Jacoby play, support him and try to be a good teammate.”
Howell was signed to the capital in 2022 as a fifth round 144th pick.
