Leave it to Al Michaels to get a little cheeky on Thursday Night Football and dig a little deeper into the Houston Astros, who infamously used a trash can as part of a 2017 sign-stealing scheme.
"Somebody's pounding on that trash can, I think the Astros must be in town."

During the second quarter of the Browns’ 37-20 victory over the Jets, Prime Video’s crowd microphones picked up a popping sound at Cleveland Browns Stadium.
At this point in the game, the Jets were trailing the Browns 27-7, and with New York controlling the ball on third-and-17, it looked like something that would excite the home crowd.
“Someone banged on that trash can. I bet the Astros were in town,”
Michaels joked. This joke pleased some people watching the match at X.
“Houston Astros are taking Walker on Al Michaels this Browns game,”
one X user wrote, along with a chef’s kiss emoji.
“Al Michaels shot the Astros,”
another wrote, adding a GIF of actor and wrestling star John Cena looking surprised.
“Al Michaels will never be forgotten,”
a third person wrote to X.
A Seattle Mariners fan holds a sign that says,
“Knock on the trash can.”
The sign was a reference to the sign-stealing scandal involving the Astros team.
The Astros were embroiled in the sign-stealing scandal that rocked the baseball world a few years ago and ruined their 2017 World Series championship.
Legendary NFL broadcaster Al Michaels surprised fans by airing the infamous MLB scandal on Thursday Night Football.
Michaels, 78, poked fun at the 2017 Houston Astros cheating scandal during the call for the Cleveland Browns’ game against the New York Jets.
Al Michaels teased Houston Astros during call with TNFC Credit: Getty Michaels appeared on the broadcast with football analyst Kirk Herbstreit, and the two discussed the game.
Herbstreit highlighted Browns star defender Myles Garrett’s defensive performance and how it affected the game. However, the big match could be heard in the crowd on air and Michaels gave a big speech about his thoughts.
“I think the Astros are in town.”
Michaels laughed.
“Al’s best call of the year,”
said one fan.
Another said:
“Don’t be sad Al. Best call ever.”
This fan thought,
“Great. Al is still the best in the business. Gona miss him when he hangs up.”
MLB hit the Astros with a sign-stealing act during the 2017 playoffs.
The Astros came up with a plan to explain the pitching staff and tell the team what pitches to expect.
They release the expected locations by knocking down containers in the tunnel.
Fans reacted as follows:
Brilliant, Al’s still the best in the biz, will miss him when he finally hangs it up…best PxP since Summerall

Nothing a Quarterback fear more than a defensive lineman that’s been working up an appetite for destruction all week, and this week is your week to face this man…Al Michaels

This is definitely Al’s last game and he’s making the most of it 😭😭

Al remains one of the absolute best.
For the last two years, the combination of his talent and a new "IDGAF, I'm about to retire, the FCC doesn't apply and Amazon is not going to fire me for anything short of a crime" attitude, has made for some of his absolute best commentary.

Al sucks. He’s been living in LA way too long. Lost his fastball in 2015. Can’t stand listening to him call games
