In an exclusive interview on Tuesday, NFL icon Tom Brady opened up about the challenges of being a father in the spotlight.
Speaking on SiriusXM"s “Let"s Go! with Tom Brady, Larry Fitzgerald, and Jim Gray," Brady discussed the guilt he sometimes feels for diverting attention away from his kids during important moments.
He said, "Whether I’m at a game for my son, and I love doing that, but, you know, a lot of times the attention gets shifted to us."
The ex-quarterback shared his desire not to overshadow his kids" experiences.
Brady explained, "I don’t want to take away from their moments, ’cause this is [an] important part of their life and their maturation."
Brady delved into the values he tries to instill in his children, saying, "We try to teach them the right values and so forth."
However, Brady also highlighted the struggle of balancing fame and family, expressing the desire to enjoy quality time with his children without constant public scrutiny.
He stated, "But at the same time, I feel like, for me, when I’m out with my kids, I really wanna be with them, you know? And I really make it clear to people, ‘Sorry, I’m just out here enjoying my time with my family.’"
Next, the Patriots veteran shed light on his family"s life, acknowledging that their opportunities for fun vacations come with the trade-off of dealing with challenges that differ from those faced by others.
Brady explained, "The reason we get to go on a lot of fun vacations and you guys go to schools and have people to help [is because] we have to deal with some things that are different than everyone else."
Tom Brady has three children. His eldest, Jack, is 16 years old and was born in 2007 during Brady"s relationship with ex-partner Bridget Moynahan. Brady has two more children with his ex-wife Gisele Bündchen: Benjamin, who is 14 years old and was born in 2009, and Vivian, who is 11 years old and was born in 2012.
After 13 years of marriage, Tom Brady and Gisele Bündchen divorced in 2022.
Despite the separation, they share joint custody of their two children, Benjamin and Vivian.
