Al Michaels, the renowned sportscaster, will be back on Thursday Night Football on Prime Video as the main presenter. He spoke about his potential return. However, the commentator hasn’t given any thoughts on his future, whether he’ll continue or not.
According to Pro Football Talk via Mike Freeman of USA Today, he shared, “I feel good. I feel healthy. I feel fine. I told Amazon that I’d do three years and next year will be three, and I’m definitely doing it. We’ll see after that.”
He further shared, “I still love this job. I still get a charge out of going into a stadium and watching the best in the world do what they do. I’m still really happy so that’s the big thing.”
Regarding the eighty-year-old commentator Michaels’s on-air partner, Kirk Herbstreit, via Freeman shares, “He hears the noise. I don’t think he’s like, ‘I’ll show them. I’m going to really bring it this week.’ He’s definitely not doing that.”
“He has more of an ‘F you’ attitude about it than ‘I’m going to show them.’ He thinks it’s a bunch of bullshit. I think it’s a bunch of bullshit. And I think it’s just a narrative that social media’s kind of running with.”
Michaels also established himself as one of the most prominent sports broadcasters of all time. He began his career in the late 1980s and was cast as the voice on ABC’s Monday Night Football.
His lively comments and witty commentary garnered the attention of the NFL community. In 2006, he moved from ABC to NBC on Sunday Night Football. At present, he is with Amazon Prime Video and is the play-by-play sportscaster for Thursday Night Football.
