David Ortiz, the iconic Boston Red Sox legend, had an amusing moment at his gender reveal party with girlfriend María Yeribell Martínez. Opting for a baseball-themed reveal, Ortiz swung and missed on a pitch from Martínez, signaling the gender of their unborn child.
The video of Ortiz’s playful “strikeout” was shared on Instagram as well as Twitter. The blue confetti revealed that Ortiz and Martínez are expecting a son, which will be Big Papi’s fourth child. Ortiz currently has three children – two with his ex-wife Tiffany and one from a previous relationship.

With a remarkable 20-year MLB career, Ortiz concluded with a .286 batting average. Originally signed by the Seattle Mariners in 1992, he made his MLB debut with the Minnesota Twins in 1997. Ortiz later joined the Red Sox, achieving immense success with three World Series titles and 10 All-Star appearances over 14 seasons. He retired in 2016 and was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2022.
Post-retirement, Ortiz transitioned into a TV analyst role for MLB on Fox in 2017, gaining recognition as a prominent TV personality. However, personal challenges, especially related to family matters, have persisted in Ortiz’s life. While he and former wife Tiffany raised three children together, his personal struggles continue to be a part of his journey.
