The Michigan face off Alabama in the College Football Playoff semifinal Rose Bowl on Monday evening, they cruise through the final after the win.

Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh came to the spotlight prior to the game. The Wall Street Journal’s Rachel Bachman adopted an unconventional approach and profile the coach as “college football’s unlikely freedom fighter” while comparing him to Che Guevara. An artwork portraying Harbaugh as the famous revolutionary can also be seen on X.

The context of Harbaugh profile as Guevara as per Bachman, more than just a college football coach vying for his first national championship. He is an anti-authority figure who has shaken the establishment through acts such as calling for players to receive revenue sharing.

Bachman also wrote, connecting the dots between Harbaugh calling for player empowerment and the multiple NCAA investigations faced in the past year.

Bachman’s headline, and the accompanying artwork, were initially published on Dec. 29, and it did invite a long list of reaction.

For WSJ, the Michigan football coach is seen as one who has long antagonized authority figures and challenged the status quo even while leading winning teams.

With the semifinal win and his notable personality, this season is his masterpiece as the WSJ Bachman noted.

Speaking to reporters after the Wolverines’ 27-20 overtime win over Alabama, Harbaugh said,

“My future consists of a happy flight back to Ann Arbor, Michigan. Can’t wait.”

Michigan unver Harbaugh (14-0) dominated the day on Monday, defeating the physical style of the Crimson Tide to win the yards battle and tie the game with an eight-play, 75-yard touchdown drive late in the fourth quarter.
