“I would certainly be ready to discuss that at a moment’s notice” Dan Quinn Ready for Head Coaching Opportunities, Maintains Focus Amidst Season Challenges

Cowboys defensive coordinator Dan Quinn was on the radar of teams looking for a head coach the past two seasons, but Quinn ultimately left each season and returned to Dallas in the two times.

With the Cowboys returning to the playoffs this season, Quinn is back in the running for a second head coaching job.

With several teams already open and more expected to come, candidates are starting to line up to try to land the head coaching job, possibly Cowboys quarterback Dan Quinn.

The veteran coach, who turned down a chance to return to Dallas last season, should be a popular candidate this round, but he also has to compare the current team’s performance against take a competitive run.

On Monday, Quinn said this doesn’t mean he’ll be ready before the 2023 season so he can focus on what’s going on when the Cowboys play.

“I think it’s important to know how to compartmentalize,”

Quinn said via the team’s website. Honestly,

“The players I was able to coach were the main reason I wanted to come back here, so I’m not going to let that moment pass me by.”

Daniel Patrick Quinn (born September 11, 1970) is an American football coach who serves as the quarterback of the Dallas Cowboys of the National Football League (NFL).

Under Quinn, Seattle led the league in defense and made two Super Bowl appearances, earning the franchise’s first victory in Super Bowl XLVIII.

That success led to Quinn being named the head coach of the Atlanta Falcons, where he served for six seasons.

Quinn’s most successful season with the Falcons came in 2016, when he led the team to Super Bowl, a feat that was eclipsed by their biggest lead in Super Bowl history.

After his time in Atlanta, Dan Quinn became the Cowboys’ defensive coordinator in 2021. Quinn was later named an NFL assistant coach for the 2021 season.

“I don’t want to see anybody else coach these guys, and in my head, it’s not done yet,”

Quinn said.

“That’s the main reason I know I still have unfinished business and I want to work hard to solve it.”

Quinn served as the head coach of the Atlanta Falcons from 2015 to 2020, helping the team reach the Super Bowl.

Previously, he was the defensive coordinator for the Seattle Seahawks from 2013 to 2014 and helped lead the team to Super Bowl 48, so if he decides to join the team in talking about the vacancy for the head coach, at that time, it will be a lot of experience.

In the meantime, Quinn hopes to help the Cowboys clinch the NFC East with a win over the Commanders on Sunday and then march into the postseason for the franchise’ hopes to be its first Super Bowl title since 1995.
