The professional women’s hockey league has etched another historical record as the game between Montreal and Minnesota saw record-breaking attendance.

Minnesota won their home opening match against the Montreal squad and the concluding score of the incredible match was 3-0. Grace Zumwinkle also scored the first hat trick of the professional women’s hockey league in the match.
The game achieved another great record as 13,316 people were at the Xcel Energy Center. The PWHL has recently started playing and in Saturday’s game, they reached an attendance record for women’s ice hockey.

Maddie Rooney saved 24 shots for Minnesota. Natalie Darwitz, Minnesota general manager and former US national team player, also shared via PHWL, “Living in the State of Hockey, I knew our fans would show up for us, but today they have taken it to a whole new level. I feel tremendously proud and inspired by our fan support.”
“On behalf of our team and our league, I want to thank the fans and everyone who has made this day possible. I’ve enjoyed numerous amazing hockey experiences in Minnesota over my career, and experiencing today and the record crowd was emotional and ranks near the top of the list.”
Stan Kasten, a PWHL Advisory Board member, also shared, “In a state of 10,000 lakes, over 13,000 fans provided an unforgettably wonderful moment today for everyone connected with the PWHL.”
On Tuesday, the PWHL drew the largest crowd in professional women’s hockey history.
