“What happened this season can’t happen again” – Jets’ Zach Wilson Acknowledges Challenging Season, Vows Improvement After Filling in for Injured Rodgers

New York Jets quarterback Zach Wilson admits he had the worst season of his life in 2023 and was one of four starting line callers in the campaign.

He was thrust into the national limelight after Aaron Rodgers went down on the fourth snap of the season with a season ending Achilles injury.

Wilson was candid this week as to his struggles to fill the boots of the Superbowl winner as the Jets finished third in the AFC East with a 7-10 record.

“What happened this season can’t happen again,” Wilson told Brian Costello of the New York Post.

“It’s got to be better. We’ve got to make adjustments in the game. We’ve got to do things to counter what we’re getting and be able to put points on the board, because in the two years I’ve been here, honestly, it’s been tough. It’s been tough going.”

Wide receiver Garrett Wilson still managed to pick up 95 catches for 1,042 yards in a show of what might have been had Rodgers stayed healthy.

The Jets were one of four teams across the country to not score 300 points in the season, picking up a meagre 268.

Both conference rivals the Bills and the Dolphins hit 450+ points scored tallies
