Former Dodgers pitcher Trevor Bauer recently participated in an interview on OutKick’s ‘Tomi Lahren is Fearless’ on Monday, January 8, at 7 pm ET.
During the interview, Bauer opened up about his decision to steer clear of casual relationships, particularly in the aftermath of assault allegations that had a significant impact on his Major League Baseball (MLB) career.
The conversation rolled when the host posed a question to Bauer about the choices some individuals in the spotlight make when it comes to their relationships.
The host, who is married to a former baseball player turned coach, J. P. Arencibia expressed curiosity, saying:
“I’ve been around athletics and athletes for a long time, public figures for a long time, and it’s always interesting to me, and I’m a female, so maybe this is different, but I always wonder, whether it comes to musicians or athletes, people that are in a position like you’re in that have money and they have notoriety and they have fame and all eyes are on them, why do you pick such bad females? Why do you pick such bad girls? Because it’s not just you. It’s a pattern.”
In response, Bauer explained:
“I think there’s a couple of things on that. One, I can’t speak for other people, of course. I don’t know why other people make the decisions they make. I can speak for myself and what I was thinking at the time, what I think now.”
Bauer elaborated on his past approach, admitting that he used to allow people into his life without much scrutiny, especially when bombarded with social media requests. At that time, he wasn’t seeking committed relationships and believed that treating people kindly and with respect would suffice. However, he acknowledged that his perspective has shifted in the last couple of years.
He now recognizes the potential pitfalls even in relationships where no laws are broken. Now, he’s become more discerning about the people he allows into his life. Bauer has consciously tightened his inner circle, seeking individuals who contribute value rather than engaging in fleeting encounters.
He admitted, “I’ve stopped having casual sexual relationships, you know, stopped agreeing to engage in rough sex acts.”
In October 2023, Trevor Bauer settled a lawsuit outside of court with a woman named Lindsey Hill, who had accused him of sexual assault in 2021.
No money was exchanged in the settlement.
Bauer had been suspended from Major League Baseball for 324 games, later reduced to 194, due to the allegations.
The Los Angeles Dodgers released him on January 12, 2023.
After the settlement, Bauer shared a video where text messages show Miss Hill referring to him as her “next victim.”
My cousin Michael was a Harvard law grad. About 10 years ago, he was falsely accused of rape. He was disbarred due to the allegations. He was never arrested. He was never charged with a crime. He was never convicted of a crime. For the past ten years, he has fought his way…

Bauer claimed that Hill’s legal team had sought financial settlements from him multiple times. He made sure to point out that his lawsuit was about clearing his name and obtaining important information, not about money, despite significant legal fees.
Concluding the video, Trevor Bauer expressed relief about moving on with his life after dealing with accusations for the past two years.
He also spoke about his focus on his baseball career.
On March 13, 2023, Bauer signed a one-year, $4 million contract with the Yokohama DeNA BayStars in the Nippon Professional Baseball League.
Bauer had a successful season in Japan, earning nominations for the NPB All-Star Game and being named the June MVP. In 19 games, he achieved a 10–4 record with a 2.76 ERA and 130 strikeouts in over 130 innings.
On November 30, Bauer chose free agency.
