Rams head coach Sean McVay had admitted he would have handled the departure of quarterback Jared Goff differently as the LA team gears up for a clash against the Lions.
Goff has been outstanding for Detroit this season and will be out for revenge when he takes on his former team in the wild card round on Monday.
“Could it have been handled better on my end? Absolutely,” McVay said. “I’ll never run away from that. But the further you get away from it the more you try to grow as a person, as a man, as a leader. He deserved better than the way that it all went down.
“I’ll acknowledge that. And I think he knows that too. And I’m not afraid to admit to those things, but I think we’re all better being able to look back on those things. And I do have more appreciation for him as time goes on.”
The Rams traded Goff and two first round picks for star QB Matthew Stafford, and it seems like the decision worked out in both team’s favor.
The 12-5 Lions welcome the 10-7 Rams in what will be a closely fought encounter.
Goff spent four years at the Rams after signing as the number one overall pick in 2016.
Stafford is also a number one overall pick signing for the Lions in 2009.
