“I don’t feel like it was too much” Carolina Panthers’ Hayden Hurst Addresses Bryce Young’s Rookie Struggles, Advocates Returning to Roots

The Carolina Panthers were not able to have a favourable season with rookie quarterback Bryce Young. They concluded their season with a 1-11 record and were last in their NFC South division race. The SEC Offensive Player of the Year of 2021, Young, was the first pick in the first round of the NFL Draft in 2023.

However, unfortunately, the transition from college to the NFL can be puzzling for some. The rookie quarterback, Young, was not able to dominate the season, according to the hopes of the Panthers squad. The tight end of the Panthers, Hayden Hurst, has recently expressed his opinions regarding the situation.

According to the Panthers, Hurst shared, “I think there’s just too many opinions and you’re kind of looking for the right answer from everybody. Too much input, which sucks for Bryce. I think he kind of had a lot of people in his ear telling him one thing.

“When you’re a 21-year-old kid, you think that is gonna be consistent in the NFL. And unfortunately for him, I think maybe he was listening too many people. So it’ll be a good off season for him, again, just to kind of get back to his roots.”

Young had also shared, “I feel like that’s always a part of, it’s a part of the position. Everyone wants to help. That’s the thing, everyone’s involved, everyone’s invested and I don’t feel like it was too much.”

“I really, I appreciate it. I know where (Hayden’s) coming from but, I think that’s part of it. You balance it. I’m just grateful for the buy-in everybody has.”

Hurst then further expressed, “The kid won the Heisman trophy, he’s pretty good. He’s the first overall pick. He’s pretty good. So that’s kind of what I told him the other day. Go home to wherever you need to go to and just tear it all down, man. Go back to where you were at Alabama, that kid, that confident kid and just go back to your roots.”

Ultimately, it comes to the young quarterback in terms of what he decides and how he will move forward in the next season after receiving initial experience in the league. Young also mentions that listening is also a necessary aspect when moving through the season and that he will make himself up for assessing as he knows the members are all concentrated.

Nevertheless, the Panthers squad and their quarterback, Young, will need to delineate their opinions precisely so that they can expect better results in the upcoming season.
