Flyers coach John Tortorella lambasted a reporter loosely affiliated with the team, slamming his podcast over claims that Kevin Hayes reportedly influenced the decision to let go of Cutter Gauthier.
Hayes is a former Philadelphia Flyers player, and reports about his ability to alter the decision making of Gauthier or the Philly team are absurd.
“Are you kidding me? You think Kevin Hayes is going to do something like that? … ,” Tortorella said. “It just pisses me off that you guys throw that around and affect someone’s life. Kevin Hayes and I had a problem, and we couldn’t come to an agreement how to play.
“That’s a good man. That’s a good man,” he said of Hayes.
“And what you said is going to stay with him. That’s what you guys don’t understand. You’re going to sit there and say you have the right sources.”
Gauthier was traded to Anaheim after the Boston College player did not want to stay in Philly.
Tortorella traded Gauthier with defenseman Jamie Drysdale.
The coach praised Drysdale after his performance in the team’s 3-2 win over the Canadiens.
