“One of the greatest ever” – QB Russell Wilson pays tribute to former Pete Carroll as legendary Seahawks HC retires from football

The Seattle Seahawks announced Wednesday that longtime coach Pete Carroll will take on a new role within the organization, ending his tenure as head coach after 14 seasons.

Former Seahawks linebacker Russell Wilson was among those who spoke, and he left a message of support for Carroll on X Wednesday afternoon.

Wilson, who now faces an uncertain future with the Denver Broncos, played for the Seahawks from 2012-21 and won a Super Bowl with the franchise in 2013.

Wilson played 158 games with Seattle after being drafted in the third round in 2012 during his time with the franchise.

Carroll is the winningest coach in Seahawks history, and his 10 playoff victories are more than any previous coach in the franchise.

Denver Broncos coordinator Russell Wilson had kind words for former Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll after the 72-year-old announced Wednesday that he would no longer be coaching the team.

Wilson started at quarterback for the Seahawks from 2012 to 2021. Carroll coached Wilson at the time, and the duo helped lead Seattle to its first Super Bowl win, two NFC titles and five NFC West crowns.

The Seahawks traded Wilson to the Denver Broncos in March 2022. Two years later, Carroll is no longer Seattle’s head coach, marking the end of a great era for Seattle football.

Ultimately, it’s a great milestone for Seattle, and now the Seahawks are continuing their search for their next head coach.

Pete Carroll’s season in Seattle will go down as one of the most successful in the NFL. And Russell Wilson is the best QB for Carroll’s Seahawks. Even on off days, the Carroll-Wilson Seahawks defense was tough.

Wilson did the same on Wednesday, when the Seahawks officially replaced Pete Carroll as head coach.

Carroll hasn’t had the same performance since the Seahawks’ playoff loss, but when he’s at the top of his game, he leads the game with a sense of ease, it’s hard to relate to professional football.

Russell Wilson took to social media to congratulate Pete Carroll after it was announced Wednesday that the 72-year-old will step down as head coach of the Seattle Seahawks.

Wilson was Carroll’s quarterback during some of his most successful seasons in Seattle, including a Super Bowl XLVIII victory in 2014 against Wilson’s current team, the Denver Broncos.

“The Best Is Yet to Come,”

celebrates Carroll’s accomplishments as a coach and all that he has set in motion.

Shortly after the end of the 2023 NFL season, Carroll told reporters that he expected to miss next season, adding that he did not get his wish as a coach.

“I plan on coaching this team,”

Carroll said Monday. I’m not tired yet. I wasn’t tired. I am not that kind of person.

Seahawks owner Jody Allen confirmed that Carroll will remain with the organization as a consultant. However, it has not yet been revealed what his full title is, other than Seahawks coach.

Allen said in a statement:

“After thoughtful meetings and careful consideration of the best interests of the team, we have agreed with Pete Carroll that his role will change from head coach to remain at the team.”

As Seattle’s head coach for 14 seasons, Carroll helped the Seahawks reach back-to-back Super Bowls, winning Super Bowl XLVIII over the Denver Broncos and nearly defeating the New England Patriots during the next. Under the 72-year-old coach, the Seahawks posted a winning record in 11 of 14 seasons.

Following the news that Pete Carroll would no longer be the head coach of the Seahawks, Russell Wilson expressed his gratitude for his former coach. Even though the two ended up together in Seattle on rocky ground, it was great to see Wilson credit his former coach for what he did and has done for the Seahawks.

These two would combine to bring the Seahawks’ only Super Bowl to Seattle and the entire LOB team in 2013. Even though their career together is over after 2021, Russell Wilson has shown his respect for Pete Carroll.

Russell Wilson called Pete Carroll “one of the greatest ever” and shared an NFL tweet about Carroll hoisting the Lombardi Trophy and Carroll’s coaching stats. No wonder Wilson wants to pay tribute to his former coach.

Although they were unable to return to another Super Bowl, their record in Seattle was unmatched in franchise history.

In Seattle, Pete Carroll and Russell Wilson were 104-53-1 when they were the Seahawks’ QBs and coaches. Wilson also wished Pete Carroll for the next step in his career and life.
