Wildcard Weekend Sparks Uncertainty, Three Bench Bosses Face Make-or-Break Scenarios

There has been a week of bloodletting in the NFL this week and the frenzy could continue after the wildcard playoff round with a trio of coaches under the gun.

Even coaches who qualified for the playoffs this season are facing an uncertain future as knockout games means spectacular falls.

The winning coach of the Buccaneers versus the Eagles game this weekend will probably be safe for another season but for the loser, it could spell disaster.

The Eagles HC Nick Sirianni will be sweating bullets after a shocking end to the regular season, losing give of their last six games. They should have had the number one seeding wrapped up already. Sirianni may have led the team to the Superbowl last season, but plenty can change in one year, heck in one month.

Instead, they travel to Tampa Bay, where head coach Todd Bowles faces an uncertain future if the Eagles progress.

Bowles led his team to a winning 9-8 record and top spot in the NFC South, but they were in a weak division which could have seen any of Saints and Falcons to top the standings.

The 12-5 Cowboys have a vital home game against the Packers in the wildcard playoff and owner Jerry Jones has made it clear Mike McCarthy is one knockout game away from being axed.

If Dallas reaches the Superbowl then McCarthy can breathe easily.

With coaches like Bill Belichick, Mike Vrabel, Pete Carroll and Nick Saban waiting in the wings, a mere playoff spot may be enough for an ambitious team.
