Former NBA legend Charles Barkley put his foot in his mouth on Thursday when he said the Boston Celtics are the season’s star attraction.
They went on to pick up their ninth loss of the season going down 135-102 to the Bucks.
Barkley made sure the commentators curse hit Boston when he said, before the match, “No disrespect to the champion Nuggets or the L.A. Clippers. Those are the second and third-best teams in the NBA. There’s nobody in the NBA on the level with the Celtics right now. They are the best team. I think they’re the best team by far.”
To be fair, the Bucks are second in the Eastern Conference, and improved their record to 26-12, but it was the manner of defeat that hurts the Celtics.
Bobby Portis JR and Giannis Antetokounmpo were the real stars as they dominated the Celtics.
Portis JR picked up 28 points and 12 rebounds while Antetokounmpo scored 24 points, 12 rebounds and six assists.
The best Celtics player was Payton Pritchard who scored 21 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists.
“You sure about that?” the Bucks posted on X after the game trolling Barkley and delivering commentating comeuppance.
