The dust of the NFL playoffs is still settling after the Cleveland Browns’ disappointing loss to the Texans.

In response to this postseason upset, the Browns organization is reportedly instituting substantial amendments to their offensive coaching staff.

According to sports analyst Josina Anderson at CBS Sports, the Browns recently let go of Offensive Coordinator Alex Van Pelt.

The news came as a surprise to many, considering Van Pelt’s notable presence in the Browns’ coaching echelons.

Alex Van Pelt, who previously acted as a quarterbacks coach for the Cincinnati Bengals and the Green Bay Packers, assumed his offensive coordinator position in Cleveland in 2020.

Although Kevin Stefanski held the responsibilities of play-calling, Van Pelt’s overarching objective was to manage the team’s other crucial game dynamics.

His sudden dismissal stands to impact the Browns’ organizational dynamics. Aside from Van Pelt, the Browns organization also fired running backs coach Stump Mitchell and tight ends coach T.C. McCartney.

Mitchell had a wealth of experience under his belt, dedicating over two decades as an NFL assistant. Not to mention, he had a decade-long playing career before shifting to coaching.

Stump Mitchell joined the Browns coaching staff in 2019, bringing with his vast knowledge from his years as an NFL assistant and player.

Despite his prior contribution to the team, the Browns decided to part ways with Mitchell in this restructuring phase.

While the tight ends coach. McCartney, who began his journey with the Browns as an offensive assistant in 2020, had just received a promotion to tight ends coach in 2022.

Unfortunately, his tenure was short-lived due to the organization’s recent revamp.
