In a candid conversation on Marlon Humphrey’s “Punch Line Podcast” on January 16, Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. opened up about his feelings regarding the trade that sent him from the New York Giants to the Cleveland Browns in 2019.

Beckham expressed his belief that the Giants traded him to Cleveland to tarnish his NFL career, stating:

“There’s a semi bit of me that feels like the Giants sent me off, I’ve said it before, sent me off to Cleveland to die. You can’t tell me this was the best trade package we could have got for you… no, your desire was to kind of f*** me over a little bit.”

In March 2019, the trade took place, with Beckham moving to the Browns along with Olivier Vernon, in exchange for Jabrill Peppers, Kevin Zeitler, and the Browns’ first- and third-round picks in the 2019 NFL Draft.

Beckham played with the Browns until 2021, after which he signed a one-year deal with the Los Angeles Rams on November 11, 2021.

Looking back at his NFL career, Odell Beckham Jr. burst onto the scene in 2014 when the New York Giants drafted him as the 12th overall pick.

Despite overcoming early-season injuries, he made his debut in Week 5, with four receptions for 44 yards and a touchdown.

In his rookie season, he finished with 91 receptions, 1,305 yards, and 12 touchdowns in just 12 games. He set records, earning Offensive Rookie of the Year honors and a Pro Bowl spot.

Beckham’s subsequent seasons were marked by Pro Bowl selections and career highs. Despite individual success, the Giants faced team struggles, and Beckham’s frustration occasionally surfaced on and off the field.

In 2019, the surprising trade sent him to the Cleveland Browns, where injuries and team struggles marred his time. In 2020, a torn ACL ended his season after seven games.

Moving to the Los Angeles Rams in 2021 proved to be a turning point for Beckham. He made an immediate impact, scoring touchdowns in five regular-season games and contributing significantly to the Rams’ Super Bowl LVI victory.

Despite a knee injury forcing him to leave the game early, the Rams secured the championship, marking Beckham’s first Super Bowl win.

After an offseason of recovery and remaining unsigned for the 2022 season, Beckham found a new opportunity with the Baltimore Ravens in 2023.

On April 9, 2023, he signed a one-year contract with the Ravens. Making his debut on his 31st birthday in Week 9, Beckham caught his first touchdown in a dominant 37–3 victory over the Seahawks, marking a fresh start in his NFL journey.
