Edmonton Oilers Make History with 13th Consecutive Win, Become Sole Canadian NHL Team to Achieve Milestone

The National Hockey League saw the Edmonton Oilers beat the Calgary Flames and the concluding score was 3-1. With this win, the Oilers have consecutively won thirteen matches, etching history.

The Oilers have become the only Canadian team in the history of the NHL to do so and from the squad, Ryan McLeod and Zach Hyman further contributed by scoring points. The longest winning streak has also been set by the Montreal Canadiens with 12 victories and the Pittsburgh Penguins with seventeen victories.

Netminder Stuart Skinner concluded his game with 26 saves and Sam Gagner scored the game-winning point. Edmonton captain Connor McDavid, as per The Globe and Mail, shares regarding the incredible win, “I’ll take it. Any time you can be the only team to do anything that’s positive, that’s always exciting. Good for our group. It’s not something we were paying too close attention to but obviously we want to keep going.”

Zach Hyman, the right wing of the Oilers, also revealed, “When we did the 10-game streak, we eclipsed the Oilers’ ’80s teams, now it’s the old Montreal team. When you’re in the moment you just go out there and play, but I’m sure it’ll be something cool to look back on.”

Skinner also posted, “Just try to keep on playing the game and keep on winning games. We’re still here to battle and grind and make our way up the leaderboard.”

“That’s kind of how we want to play and those are normally the teams that do some good damage in the playoffs, too”.

The next team the Oilers will face is the Columbus Blue Jackets, whereas the Flames will face the St. Louis Blues.
