“Oh my goodness, they just did on themselves.” – Pittsburgh commentator Josh Getzoff in shock at Penguins shocking own goal

The Penguins scored an embarrassing and ultimately decisive own goal in their 5-2 loss to Arizona.

This is their fourth loss in their last five NHL games.

A disbelieving SportsNet Pittsburgh broadcast crew were left to describe an own goal, with veterans Kris Letang and Evgeni Malkin contributing to the bizarre moment.

“The Pens generated this upcoming penalty on Arizona thanks to a short-handed two on one, they didn’t score.

“Oh my goodness, they just did on themselves. Unbelievable,” said play-by-play commentator Josh Getzoff.

“You don’t see that every day,” added color commentator Colby Armstrong. “I was just thinking the Pens are doing a good job here getting time off the clock. What a turn of events, he missed it.”

Pittsburgh was trying to kill a Coyotes power play by pushing up goalkeeper Tristan Jarry, leading to the incident.
